Can you explain? Wouldn’t it make more sense to the government to build on its own blockchain? They would control most of the nodes and trust themselves to back the currency rather than someone else.

Yeah I don’t doubt that whatever cryptocurrency they create one day would be centralized, I just don’t know why they would use tether instead of making their own.

Because it's tried tested, has billions already in markets hare, is already used widely in areas people used cash dollars, has a load of wallets infrastructure that already exists
