Right. Showing your ID is vastly different than giving someone a copy of your ID for them to store it.

my data was compromised, I got the discord email, luckily I wasn't stupid enough to upload ID or credit card information. Just my email I guess was compromised

That sucks. What did you upload for verification if you didn't upload your id? Or did you do some partial verification?

Even worse when hotel guests or airplane passenger information is leaked - as that usually contains address, birthday and phone number. Or government ID
