Why 25%? Why not 250% if incentivizing them to stop illegal immigration is the objective by those countries. No matter what, people who live in US have to pay anyways. It is Mexico or Canada picking up the bill and passing it to consumers in US. All I know is my paycheck is going to shrink 25% as almost all goods come from these 3 countries.
I like that you ask about this… do we agree that the free market is the path to economic growth ???
People have a misconception of what a free market is. Corporations will argue the reason they import so much from other countries is because of free market and they go where labor is cheap and the economics works including shipping. The same if manufactured in US would raise prices and depress buying power. My issue is that it is always the rest of us picking up the difference. What about corporate greed and wealth consolidation? How about we break that down, put a cap and increase competition among themselves. 1920s is a history lesson here. A company like NVIDIA cannot be worth the entire annual tax revenue of the US.
Good luck trying to regulate it
Yeah that’s not going to happen when billionaires are running the show in Washington.
A free market is so much more than tariffs and labour arbitrage.
IDK about the US of A, but over here, government permits, approvals, regulations, fees and taxes vastly outweigh international differences in labour costs.
Lobbying to get the "right answers" from govt is the only business capability that scales endlessly with size.
Privileged access to the State is why mega-corporations can even survive at all.
Statism distorts the market, in short
To be honest I dont think that is high enough.
Id go up to 95% tarrifs.
Fucking fix your shit.
Then we dont have to fuck your wallets.
Are you saying you would raise tariffs even more??? Do you support bitcoin ???
To be honest I would support increasing tarifs astronomically on any external imports from outside countries. Regardless of whether they did something foolish or not. At least for a fixed time of 5 years minimum.
This would first send shockwaves in the supplychain. It is probably something that would take a year or two of prepping as a country to implement. Just to ensure that companies from other nations had the opportunity to open up local independent branches that opperate solely in the usa. With obly US citizens for employees. As well ensure we take the necessary precautions in the food supply chain. So we dont all starve to death.
This would cause an immediate economic boom. Wherein nearly all of the jobs that were outsourced to other countries. Suddenly are forced to come back home again. Instead of everything being made in china, or another country. They would all start saying made in the usa again. Which is a big fuck yeah in my book.
It would force US citizens to remember what they had stolen from them. So that we can all realize the immense value and importance of buying, making, and selling products only made in the USA.
In time we could ease off on the high tarrifs. Once we the people realize what we now have and arent stupid enough to repeat outsourcing our past mistakes.
i personally think that killing the offshoring is done the way Trump is proposing but i also don't like the IRS one bit and it should also be abolished
IRS doesn't have anything to do with tolls on port transit, so it's not really relevant
it's to send a message to offshored production that their margins are gone if they don't consider retooling to produce where the buyers are
i am not holding my breath on any scaling back on the rapacious gimme of the IRS though, they are part of the bankster regime of printing money and giving it to friends, and the lesser friends and enemies they promote robbing of their extra coins in order to add back to the pool for giving more to the friends
the IRS only dies when the people in the states refuse to pay it any more, and start to ignore the "commerce clause" - which is literally just the hole through which the banksters inserted income tax anyway
i'm not talking about state level or even county level here of course, those are separate battlefields
All taxation on US citizens is theft. Regardless of what excuse they give us. We can't opt out of it and we are forced to always pay them their protection money on time. Therfor we are all physically and financially debt slaves for life.
i think all taxation is theft and the whole reason the production went offshore was because of either tax, or the more "moral" sounding "licensing" or other equally bullshit version of justifying punishing profitable business
Protectionism is socialism in disguise, because it puts the government as the arbiter of who deserves to prosper instead of leaving it to the market, taxation is always theft… there are no “buts”
It’s just my opinion about
Dont mistake my suggestions as my ideal solutions. They come from a place of already being in a fucked situation. That in my ideal world wouldnt exist in the first place. My suggestions were how to make the most of a shitty situation.
I do not believe anyone has figured out a form of governance that actually works. Maybe one day it will happen, because I believe it can be done. Until then I am just a debt slave with no power to enforce what I believe should and should not be laws. Only make suggestions that would get us headed in the right direction.
you can always dodge the bullshit stuff and taek risks because they can't enforce 100% compliance, not even 80%
Im all in on bitcoin. I own no fiat.
