Here's what I think: They will send the data anyway without your consent and any thing else you made public on the internets.

I don't care who the company is. If their data sharing policy requires you to opt-out vs opt-in, they can't be trusted. You're probably just one update or re-design away from your opt-out preferences being "accidentally" reset to "allow".
