why not nostr nests?

Apparently audio cuts out. I vastly prefer its design, but I guess it can be a showstopper.

it’s an old bug that never got squashed, I’ve tried multiple times to have convos with the likes of nostr:npub1jzuma368395gu523y4vk4d34p0lxgctk436hggn4qcuj93075qgqtn3vm0 & nostr:npub1mu9wmykl7qx5llk69axd3rvk0hzhdd25jsqtj2hmnzjpn2sxum6s8jjj0t and it never seems to work out, it’s the “presence bug”

So it happened to all 3 of you? Whenever anyone speaks?

happens whenever I open a nest with one of them in the hopes of sharing the link and inviting others in, before we do someone’s presence is always removed sometimes it’s me sometimes it’s one of them, and then you refresh, come back in and couple seconds later it happens again someone’s presence leaves n they’re left speaking to themselves..

One big question id pose to everyone is: how do we get the non-bitcoiners on here?

The bigger issues:

- Nostr login wasn't working

- When people joined, their mics and video were automatically turned on

- Lots of confusion about how to turn sounds off

Other than that, I don't particularly love the app. There's lots of visual cruft (tons of icons that aren't clear, floating windows, controls that reduce information density in chat). A video chat clone that works with nostr is awesome, and much needed, but is also a different use case from something like nests. I think nests has it perfect (in particular having people on stage vs in the audience), except it would be nice to have a "presenter" who can share his video or screen. No need for many concurrent presenters, but having an option to do video would help at times nostr:nprofile1qyghwumn8ghj7mn0wd68ytnhd9hx2tcppemhxue69uhkummn9ekx7mp0qy2hwumn8ghj7un9d3shjtnyv9kh2uewd9hj7qghwaehxw309aex2mrp0yhxummnw3ezucnpdejz7qg3waehxw309ahx7um5wghxcctwvshszxnhwden5te0vfhhxarj9ekx2cm5w4exjene9ehx2ap0qythwumn8ghj7un9d3shjtnswf5k6ctv9ehx2ap0qqsph3c2q9yt8uckmgelu0yf7glruudvfluesqn7cuftjpwdynm2gygxd6wus

Top feedback was for hivetalk which is what we used this morning

Thanks for clarification. I don’t think it’s a secret that I designed nests, so I want to hear honest feedback whenever possible so that I can improve things. I don’t always get it right 😔

you assume video is a good thing without any proof

even if it was, there are always tradeoffs, from complexity of implementation to bandwidth requirements and perhaps even cultural effects (different kinds of people tend to prefer video over audio and vice-versa, and the same people behave differently in different media)
