Yea I was being a little loose with that note.
The thing is, clients are schelling points. especially for "Other Stuff". sure, anyone could "do catallax things" using `nak` at the command line, but nobody is going to. https://www.lightningbounties.com/ works because.. well.. there's a central URL. People go there, they talk about it. Of course this centralization is useful! It's also the problem!
Until catallax Kinds are ubiquitous and the use-cases there are valuable enough to people to start popping up in other clients (not unlike the nostr marketplace items appear in a lot of "social feed" apps, along with the purpose-built marketplace clients), most activity is probably going to appear **at some URL**. My hope was that I'd put a reference client out (I have) and it would just function as a demo until someone _else_ went a built their own thing.
That basically depends on some entrepreneur determining that they want to run XYZ style service, probably take some fee for providing some extra value, and then hang out a shingle and attract customers. Catallax, as a protocol, would power that service, basically as a gift, but **I** don't want to be that entrepreneur.
I'm rambling, and I think you already know a lot of these things from talking to me previously - but there are some thoughts :)
