So, does #Nostr win only when/if it becomes mainstream and everyone is on here?

I am not sure if there is a correct, or just one way for #Nostr to win..

What I know for sure is that when I was on Twitter 2yrs ago I felt I was losing, disconnected from anyone even if in the biggest virtual square in the world, felt I had no voice, no reason to be there, just being feed with nihilsm and extremely cynical thoughts.

I don't need everyone on #Nostr, definitely that's not the sign of success.

#yestr

This is the exact sentiment I resonate with about #nostr.

How can one not see how empowering it is to be here with others who share the same view about authenticity, privacy + permissionless sovereignty over our own voice WITHOUT the clusterfuck of advertisements, controlled algos, and censorship hanging over our heads?

Nostr is REVOLUTIONARY!

Winning means you are number 1. So yes. Nostr only wins when it becomes mainstream and everyone is here.

Nostr is not winning at the moment. I'd say Nostr is what.. number 3 or 4..

Facebook is number 1,

X is number 2,

Truth Social 3

Nostr is number 4

Unfortunately Facebook is still massively huge and used by billions around the world and is still quite good

X is trash and full of bots and fake profiles but still has quite a lot of organic people trying to get engagement but like you said they never get engagement. The big political profiles keep X going.

Truth is growing because of Trump and will most likely replace X soon.

Nostr is still quite new and growing but Nostr has extremely good organic engagement. Nostr will eventually beat them all because it's decentralized and you can make money here.

You may not need everyone on Nostr but if Nostr wants to win then it needs everyone on here.

Winning is about winning.

Winning doesn't mean you are number one. That's being first.

- There's a lottery with 10 same prices, 10 winners.

- Sports game, who scores more wins, not the first eho scores.

Just two examples.

Bitcoin doesn't win if 8 billions people using it.. it doesn't care.. YOU WIN WHEN YOU START USING IT, AND EVERYONE WINS AS YOU DO WHEN THEY START USING IT TOO.

Winning doesn't imply there is One only winner while the rest die.

Winning means you are number 1, it means you are the best, you are just reframing “winning” as a personal journey, like you win when you opt into something good, not necessarily when you beat everyone else.

What you are saying is "woke" talk. Everyone is a winner!

That’s a feel-good, inclusive view. It is like the same mindset that gave everyone participation trophies.

In most competitive systems, business, sports, platforms, winning = being #1. It means dominance, reach, impact, survival.

What you are describing is more like benefiting or succeeding individually, not “winning” in the classic sense. Bitcoin doesn’t win because someone starts using it, that person wins. But for Bitcoin to win, it needs to DOMINATE the financial game.

Bitcoin is not winning yet. The corrupt fiat system is winning.

Saying “everyone wins” dilutes the meaning of “winning.” It’s a comforting message, but not how reality works when stakes are real.

You are making an argument basically on how I am using the word winning, and ehat concept is attributed yo it, saying winning is not succeeding, and restraining the meaning to "the only one who succeed".

Also, calling me woke, and putting words in my mouth (everyone wins, I don't care of everyone, and that's what I said, didn't need everyone to be here to feel I am winning).

Yes because you are trying to make yourself feel better by trying to avoid the fact that Nostr is not winning.

Nostr is not winning. Facebook is currently number 1 and that's the reality.

That's your view of seeing things, and in my opinion that's FIAT, counting the number of users as the only parameter first, and secondly thinking that "To Win" does imply you are the first and only.

NUMBER 1.. of what? For who? Lol! A platform where basically only 50+ years people interacts.. there's 5billimns profile ok, but I don't interact with my one in 15 years, thwy still count me as user. Lol!

I get your point, but you're kind of mixing personal benefit with system level dominance. Sure, you win personally when you use something good like Bitcoin. No argument there.

But when we talk about platforms or protocols “winning,” it does come down to adoption, network effects, and influence.

That’s not fiat thinking, it’s just reality.

If a tech platform is dead in user engagement, it’s not winning, even if it has 5B ghost accounts. But if it’s still shaping culture, news, or global policy, that says something.

It’s not about “only one can win and everyone else dies.” It’s about who’s leading, who’s setting the rules, who has momentum. That’s what “number one” means in this context.

Nostr is not number 1 yet and that's reality.

Nostr already won imo. Having a bunch of smart devs and normies shipping amazing stuff daily. This is possible only on fully open protocol and that's what makes the Nostr an absolute winner 🏆

What’s your social before 2 years a go?

Twitter, opened a profile with this same handle in late 2020, banned after 2 months because I was posting against COVID lockdowns.

Created a new one with similar handle, noticed I got Shadow banned after a couple of weeks.

Discovered #Nostr in December '22, and in one month I had more engagement than in 2 years of Twitter.

Dang, cool story. Thanks for sharing.
