Gut reaction: smells like a buy off to get political support from Argentina/Milei for whatever shenanigans the US regime wants to do in Venezuela, probably a coup to install a new dictator who will give US companies favorable/cheaper access to Venezuelan oil. Confessions of an Economic Hit Man.

I definitely can see this scenario playing out, coupled with the fact that this is a way for the US to access natural resources for pennies on the dollar. Two birds one stone and the IMF will be there to ensure Argentina behaves and doesn't get too cocky. Fiat things that will augur well for the US, not so much for the people of Argentina
