If a single individual is 'leasing' the machine out, it creates a very dangerous incentive for that individual to act dishonestly.
If multiple machines are moving around a group with an assumption that it is on you to check for tampering, it changes this dynamic.
The least trusting individuals will pay a little more for a 'new' seed hammer. Everyone else has access to it at a significant discount.
