I agree to an extent. If I know the merchant is holding the bitcoin I’ll spend bitcoin. Even if it’s the same cost. Why? Because I live on a bitcoin standard my fiat bank account is usually enough to pay my bills for the next 4-6 weeks at most. If the merchant is converting straight to fiat then I’ll use fiat… I don’t hold the absurd belief that my actions could ever have a tangible impact on bitcoin adoption but we are all satoshi… we should be using bitcoin not hoarding/hodling it. Fair take but I just can’t stand the “never sell your bitcoin” narrative.

You should be holding it to use it when it is economically in your best interest to do so. It is free market money and will do best when people dont think that the biggest proponents of it are in a cult. It will do best when people see that the people using it are the most intelligent people they know not evangelicals.
Well, that’s your perspective and that’s fine but I’m telling you it’s in my economic interest to spend bitcoin when I can because I hold nearly zero Fiat. The people you refer to as evangelists or cult members to me they’re the builders and creators- the people actually making things happen whereas holders are on the sidelines waiting for someone else to do the work. Just my perspective nothing personal. you’re welcome to wait for a future which may or may not come in your lifetime. I’d rather take action and grow the grassroots movement. Not throwing shade this is the beauty of a free market we all get to decide how we spend our time and energy. And for sure I’m glad you’re on Nostr sending zaps and engaging with other people.
Thats the way to live. That is what you should do. Whatever works best for you economically. No doubt it is meant to be spent eventually and we are getting to that point for more people everyday. I just hate the people that are trying to convince others that just hording at this point is wrong. It is not. You have a monetary system that needs to go from 0 to infinity unless you have seamless onramps right now it isn't the best move and you shouldn't force fuq it to "make a point" that you are helping the ecosystem or some shit.
