I'm not sure I can help you with your particular issue, I don't use an iPhone which is what damus runs on.

I do hear they are working on cross platform apps, but I don't think it's out yet.

If you don't trust your phone, you should know that there are power tools like nsecbunker and other remote signing tools that could help. Feel free to create an account, experiment, and create another account when you feel like you know what you're doing.
