I feel bad for those who are paid hourly and controlled by their employers. Working towards results should be the standard.

who controls the definition of “results”?

employer, PM or team lead. But what the point of the question ?

Sounds like the idea is if you do not control the definition of result, you can work infinite hours for nothing

In the end it doesn’t really matter how payments are done but the degree of trust between participants

💯

I get paid hourly, but I usually work until the result is convincing.

Usually at hourly rates your employer expects you to complete a task in a few days. Sometimes in the end of the day. Totally different approach with the results. At least in my case !

I think it only works as long as you work "fast" enough

When the hourly wage is operated under with the goal of results, you get a better wage.

As an employee it is important that you be regularly calculating the value you provide to the business and what wage that justifies.

Wages over time, can set you free to invest in the capital needed to perform your jobs independent of a boss.

But only when you have the proper saving mechanism.

Wages whether hourly or annually are really no different, just a different mental calculation.
