My UX blind spot is post/content creation.

I used Twitter so much in the past that I wanted to create my own client for it, that would fix or improve all the things other clients were missing. I was using Tweetbot at the time, it was very good, 10x better than Tweetdeck, 100x better than the native twitter client. When Elon shut down the API I was forced to use normal Twitter again and I hated it. From years of daily use of mostly lists (feeds), across multiple devices, in sync, in chronological order with unread counts, to being forced to use a single "For You" feed filled with garbage and unusable UX for lists was extremely annoying to me.

With Nostur I am recreating everything just to have my normal experience back and I am building it on nostr so it cant be taken away again.

But I am mostly a reader/lurker, so while the reading experience in Nostur is great, posting/content creation is my blind spot, I don't know what features are missing there because I don't use it much and didn't use it much on Twitter either, except for some reply posting on an alt-account.

I believe the best apps are built by devs who use their own apps and I'm not using the posting part of Nostur enough to know what's missing, my experience pretty much stops at posting release notes, I know it's great for that, but for other content I need active posters to tell me what's missing.

So if you are missing something, let me know!

would be great to see relays on profile pages. btw custom feeds not chronologically appears by time posted most of the time, is that the relays fault?

it tries to be but sometimes posts come in later from different relays and instead of waiting it already shows whats been received so far, this can mess up the order a bit.

I had a better chronological ordering in older versions but I sacraficed a bit for speed, I have to redo some things to get it back to before while keeping it fast.

Hey. I use nostur and the posting seems fine.

Able to tag users, post images and even has gif.

One thing maybe is to cache the writing, so fat finger close it, the content is still there. Maybe?

Swiping left/right through my feeds would be really useful!

The new ‘Hide posts you have already seen’ setting is a game changer for UX. Makes scrolling my feed feel 10x better.

Once again the feed jumping bug really is the only frustrating thing for me when scrolling Nostur.

Yes this one bothers me the most also, so far the only solution I have would also remove the unread counter and new posts coming in the from the top while keeping scroll position, I prefer to keep those.

New post indicator can still be used to show there are new posts but feed won’t render anything unless scrolling up or if you are at the top of the feed?

A way to edit the post where order/flow of text-image-text would be very good. I think some clients are already fixing that. Primal has a preview of the post while you write. Also some clients don’t allow save an image on phone, believe it or not. Oh and bookmarks.

Also, it would be nice for a solution for longer posts. It’s frustrating as a user to click a post and it’s 1000 words (and no bookmark). Why not maybe a label like “article” and make it “fancier”? Why it filter in or out longer posts?

It works fine already now. Not important but nice to have bucket items:

- scheduling for later posting (or reposting)

- char count indicator

- save as draft (even templates later)

I have been wondering the posting usually happens only to 2 or 3 relays but not more since I should have close to ten. Would be great to see if the client is offline (or not able to connect to relays.)

For the reading side:

- RSS-feeds would be nice. (Regular blogpost type of feeds but why not also Mastodon instances). This could be a read-only feature so no nostr-bridge required.

- Twitter feed via fxtwitter.com API

- Maybe Farcaster / Bsky at some point as well.

Some interesting ideas thanks, bookmarked for looking into these later

Hey nostr:npub1n0sturny6w9zn2wwexju3m6asu7zh7jnv2jt2kx6tlmfhs7thq0qnflahe

Some observations for you to consider:

- home page. Tab “new” is not cap N

- add DM this user button on user profile page

- the icon for new private note seems hard to see

- swipe left and right to change between page tabs (example at home page, from following to new to hot)

Not sure what you mean with the “new” tab, maybe you added a custom feed with that title? DM button on profile was just added in last TestFlight

Omg. I didn’t know what was a custom tab I created unknowingly!

That’s awesome.
