If you're not embarrassing your daughter in front of her frens whilst sending them sats, you are probably doing fathering all wrong.

I was lucky enough to be joined by Kaitlyn Prince, a Politics and International Relations student as well as an intern for Paystand. We talk about her journey into becoming a Bitcoiner, how Bitcoin is perceived amongst our generation and Kaitlyn's work at Paystand. nostr:nprofile1qqszjaetkk4wjdllr49erqpkemjczrh0uzu0kajlr0478zf65jxmx0spzfmhxue69uhhqatjwpkx2urpvuhx2ucpz3mhxue69uhhyetvv9ujuerpd46hxtnfdux0qhry

Hmmm Bitcoin isn't the first rabbit hole I've gone deep down.
I've been careful not to let my obsessions overflow onto my family too much in case I was very wrong. I was also concerned for my family's long term safety. I didn't want to be known as the Bitcoin family in our small town.
There was a period where I thought it was important for them to 'eat the rainbow' of plant nutrition. Not long after that I did a complete 180 into carnivore. I've felt guilty that they missed out on some nutrition during periods of their growth. They were always a little behind on whatever new belief I was exploring.
The government wants to loan (interest free) my 17 yo daughter $25k (it's some stupid govt scheme to encourage apprentices). Last night she asked if it was a good idea to take it out.
She wants to buy frivolous things with it. I said it's a good idea if you use half of it to buy Bitcoin with it. I explained to her the difference between a productive asset & a consumption good. It was a good discussion. I told her to pursue it because Bitcoin exists.
Both my kids own Bitcoin that they purchased with their own money from their own labour. They've both experienced significant NgU but neither seem to be that interested in it.
I've often wondered if I've not been as loud & adamant about Bitcoin as I could/should have been. Every decision comes with tradeoffs.
Kids are not that interested in it because they don't understand the previous fiat system. They just view it as a tech that exists. Like a cellphone or a computer. They never understood life without it.
Yeah, it's not particularly relevant for their day to day life yet.
It's starting to get to the point where I can work in Bitcoin relevant topics like inflation & taxation without going into a rant (like I do with seed oils).
The loan is a prime example & will demonstrate the power of Bitcoin. She wants to put $15k of the $25k into Bitcoin & then slowly repay it.
She is fearful of debt (I'm honestly not sure where that comes from) & that's where I got to introduce the concept of a productive asset. Things are slowly starting to fall into place.
Debt was a boomer thing. Autonomy and debt do not go hand in hand for average millenials.
This is jokes- I am 100% doing this from now on (my kids are 5 and 2 but never to early to start 😂)
