Political conversations on Nostr are terrible. Everyone has their own version of world history and are unwilling to budge. This makes it impossible to carry on a conversation. What’s worse is that some people will use media talking points and phrases word for word without realizing it. And some will outright call you names and tell you to never speak. We’re no different from X or any other platform in that aspect.

I’ll stick to memes and fart jokes since that’s the level of conversation some people can handle.

Joking. I’ll say annoying things because I can. Deal with it.

It's frustrating, I try to avoid engaging in political discussion on the internet exactly for this particular reason. Even with someone I vehemently disagree with, I've had better conversations in person.

So you're pretty much saying you're going to back down. That's what we call the silent majority. The silent majority are sheep who stay quiet forever because they are afraid of debating someone who doesn't align with their political views. The silent majority is just as bad as the bad Shepard's who lead them into the wrong path.

Never back down and keep discussing politics.

It’s true everywhere. It’s difficult, if not impossible to have nuance in a conversation about politics or any global topic. As a rule of thumb, if you can not make a point about both sides, your emotional state is captured and not worth exploring further.
