I’m seeing pictures from #gaza of things that should never be allowed to happen.
We are horrible humans.

As if wars are cute and pretty and friendly, when other people engage in them. War is always terrible. Politics and diplomacy was invented, to push wars back to the last option, as people got tired of bashing each other over the head for dumb shit.
Even NATO can do some real gruesome damage, with the weaponry they have, and they tiptoe around the battlefield and constantly have the do-gooders and church ladies back home bitching at them.
yeah, saturation bombing especially. my friend from serbia lives near the big oil refinery in Novi Sad and just before they pulled out of there they bombed that thing, he thought they'd dropped a nuke, and i saw all the remnants of the bridges across the danube.
i wouldn't say that nato troops are nicey nicey at all but mostly they aren't as sick as what the IDF is doing to palestinians now. every place they got sent to do really stupid shit, like iraq and syria, they got pretty bad.
The Gaza War is particularly gruesome, I suspect, because it's like a highly concentrated Afghanistan situation. Relatively small, but hypertrained and hypermechanized forces, on the one hand. Endless canon fodder "troops" with an unending, bewildering appetite for battle, on the other. And all within a tiny, entrapped territory, so that the civilians have nowhere to safely hide from the carnage and can't get away.
Just drags on and on and on...
Ukraine is also dragging on, but the two sides are more evenly-matched.
People there are starving.
Like animals in very poorly run zoo.
There is footage of people who are basically skeletons.
There footage of people dying while standing due to organ failures because of hunger.
You don’t recommend searching the footage.
Yeah, maybe Hamas should have stockpiled food and medical supplies for civilians in their underground tunnels, instead of a bunch of pipe bombs and stolen irrigation systems, before they launched a war on the territory of one of the strongest militaries on the planet. But that would require Hamas to have more than zero fucks to give, and not just be a bunch of useless, selfish fanatics.
It's telling, that people see civilians suffering on Palestinian territory, and their instinct is to demand Israel and the West help them. No one ever appeals to the conscience of Hamas leadership because everyone knows they don't have one.
The whole conflict is schizophrenic.
mainly because there's certain people funding both sides of it. and israel's military wouldn't be so good without all the funding siphoned out of the USA
Yeah, but look at the billions the West also has spent on Palestine. Germany, especially, was literally pouring money into Hamas for years, for humanitarian aid, and it was all siphoned off and spent on military.
Germany's development fund kept installing irrigation systems and water treatment facilities, on the same spot, over and over, and they'd quickly start failing. Took them years to realize that Hamas was crushing local agriculture and poisoning the drinking water with LITERAL SEWAGE, by digging up the canalisation to make pipe bombs out of it.
The Palestinians voted for those asswipes.
non-interference is a virtue. no governments have it.
they steal from peter to give to paul and then people wonder why there is constant discord
also, it's a classic picture of how all poor countries get poor. corrupt governments, getting loads of money from sob stories, and then using it to systematize their oppression.
without the mechanism of a monopoly on violence, which happens because people have become inured to it, there can't be this shit.
africa is a country rich in resources, but because the place is overrun by violent thugs pretending to be helping people, they are dirt poor, and american and european corporations are raking in the cash from selling their cheaply acquired resources as expensive products to people who are stupid enough to keep voting.
like War Games, when it comes to voting, the only winning move is to not play.
Yeah, it's a classic scenario, but definitely the argumentum ad absurdum variation.
I just think most people get emotionally caught up in the gory pictures and fail to ask the most obvious question:
If the government in Gaza can't feed the civilians,
WHAT ARE THEIR SOLDIERS EATING?
but then all those poor executives in military hardware manufacturing would have to find a real job instead of having the biggest segment of the government budget and thus the greatest contributor to national debt and the endless increase of taxation
Yeah, but the sad thing is that the poorest countries often spend an even higher percentage of their income on military. That's what we're watching play out, over there.
All of that money, and it went to drones and pipe bombs and birth jihad, rather than to sustainable development and uplifting the citizenry. Martyr checks for moms with too many sons because they couldn't figure out where babies come from, so that they happily take money to strap a bomb vest on one and cry some crocodile tears for the TV. Charming.
The truth is, the Palestinians living in Israel are better-served by their government. That's why the migration only flows in one direction. Talk is cheap and Internet rhetoric is easy and being antisemitic makes people feel edgy, even though it's so tiresome and literally medieval.
The people on the ground, whose lives and well-being are personally at stake, have voted with their feet.
Everyone who managed to leave any territory run by Hamas is 💯 winning at life, even if they moved to one run by a bunch of Jews. The end.
Just look at the UNRWA. Probably the main culprit, in this whole affair. Budget in 2022 was $1,17 billion. Most of that goes to local "charities" and development projects run by the same people who started this war. We all now get to see what they actually spent the money on and I'm underwhelmed.

Our tax dollars at work. Over $300/year/person. That money has been flowing in a gigantic stream, for over half a century, in addition to the money from Caritas, the Red Cross, etc., but a war erupts and THERE IS IMMEDIATELY NO FOOD.
That’s not the problem, the problem is that food is being blocked.
That is inhuman.
There is food in Gaza. The war would not be possible if the fighters were not eating. Hamas has not explained why the military has so much food, but the civilians right next to them have no food.
They have also not explained why there are people starving, but also a thriving food market where obvious humanitarian aid is being resold and taxed at inflated prices. The taxes and resale are being used to buy weaponry, just as Hamas has always done. That is how the West unwittingly pays for the war to continue. That is why people there are starving, but munitions mysteriously never run out, and the fighting goes on and on and on. The border is actually quite porous.
Hamas is shooting at people giving out food aid, and the food aid people are panicking and shooting at hysterical crowds of exhausted, starving people, who now have to travel long distances to get food aid because the UN refuses to stop funelling the food aid through Hamas and closed down their Hamas-led distribution centers in protest at the idea that they should hand out the aid themselves.
Hamas considers feeding the civilians to be pro-Israeli propaganda and a way to lure civilians away from frontlines and make fighting less political because of reduced civilian casualties (which Hamas doesn't want). Which it is. But it is also food. Both sides are using food as a weapon. Israel wants to be seen handing out the food, but Hamas also wants to be seen doing so, so they fight over who gets to pose as the Great Humanitarian for the Western news cameras and The Bleeding Heart Social Media People instead of just handing out the fucking food.
The food trucks are also being attacked in the lawless border zone, by black market gangs, and they occasionally get hit by a stray bomb (from either side), so they're increasingly having trouble recruiting drivers. Because it's a war zone. Nobody wants to drive a truck through a rain of bombs and Israel hasn't managed to gain control of the sky and provide the promised security paths in adequate numbers, so there are only half as many trucks getting through as planned. Through one end of Gaza. The other is open, but the hungry people are on the other side, and it is too dangerous to drive through.
I have not forgotten how my entire Nostr feed was full of people cheering on this Fun Little War, when it started. This is so great! Should be over fast, since we have God on our side and nobody likes the other guys. Yay! Finally have our war!
It is a tragedy for the civilian population, and I hope they each get their food and soon. But the next time I see some dumb fucks cheering on a war, like it is a damned video game, rather than a guaranteed absolute horror show, I'm going to remind everyone else how their last game round went down.
And that's all I have to say about that.
i find it extremely tiresome also, and when i unfortunately happen to see Peter Todd and his cheerleading for ukraine i want to vomit in my mouth, at the fact that this guy has anything to do with bitcoin
If you read my two notes above you will notice that I am not blaming a specific side.
I’m only pointing that there are humans dying, I am sure they are not dying by choice.
What you need is to show is empathy for the starving people, regardless of who’s starving them.
Take a step back, think of the children who have no idea what’s goin on, who are dying due to lack of nutrition.
It’s very easy to show empathy.
understanding that people starving because of the actions of politicians and NGOs does not mean you don't have sympathy for the suffering.
it means that you want to point the blame in the right direction instead of allowing the narrative to assign blame where it isn't due.
she's right. it's because of hamas stealing food and using it to maintain their army of jihadis. this doesn't exonerate israel for their wrongdoing but it enables you to see that whoever is keeping hamas running is guilty of conspiracy.
They can't eat empathy.
Agreed.
getting you to spend so much time thinking about their situation is also taking away part of your time on something that you literally can't do anything about.
one of the first things that psychopaths do to other people to gain control of them is to fill their minds with bullshit that keeps their minds locked in sensless loops of loaded questions and wrong answers so you don't pay attention to what they are actually inflicting on you.
this is how it comes to be that what is happening, is happening, over there, and then they use that to further gain control of people to manipulate them to look at that instead of the endless escalation of deprivation and demoralization being done to the people right next door to you, and to you, as well.
much better way to spend your time and energy is how to break out of their mental prisons and avoid suffering from the misery they are causing and getting away with in your own immediate surroundings, and ultimately, helping other people is never about pushing your concern on them, it's when they come to you and collaborate.
Your intelligence rises, dramatically, concerning any topic, if you just skip the videos and pictures.
i find video an extremely unsuitable way to learn things in general. it used to be that in the past i had slow internet or limited internet and i just couldn't justify it, now, i also just want to read text explaining something, mostly, video is an extremely low bandwidth way to put information into my brain, and very vulnerable to all kinds of hypnosis tricks to persuade you against your will to believe something.
Humans have capacity to be horrible. “We” aren’t horrible…but the capacity for horror is there
