i am a very big fan of kitties with white faces, there's something about the shape of their eyes
here in #madeira there is a LOT of white and albino animals, just saying
i had a little kitten i picked up in a country town in bulgaria, Belovo, i forget what i called him now... he had this really distinctive thick long guard hairs in higher than normal density, and white patches around his eyes and on his tail around the back was this black patch that i associated with serbian cats and dogs...
as i now see these kinds of animals a LOT here... literally every time i walk up the road there is this little white dog owned by neighbours, he has golden yellow eyes, and really pink colour around his nose and funny toothy mouth...
fuckin beautiful, it's something else, i don't even know how to explain why i find it so fascinating

madeira is a big nasty sharp rock
really pointy, really tall...
if you want to travel around the island a lot of distance it's very expensive, because it's got a lot of ups and downs
but if you are cool with staying in one place and learning and getting fit to walk these crazy slopes, it's brilliant
the weather is pretty nice too... i mean, in the south it's like perfect, but in the north, in winter it gets pretty cold and the wind goes fuckin nuts, it's awesome, i love it, but it's an acquired taste, you will find it strange at first... but that season is coming to an end
the doves are back after their winter break, i think soon the heavy storms will start to slow down, and the temps will get to where i can keep my windows open even if i keep the shutters closed
idk, it's a really foreign experience, but beautiful and strange
and the rural people are really hard, and strong, and loud... the ones in the south are loud too but they are actually quieter here in the north, and more loyal and more chill
it's up to you what you want to try but i recommend finding a spot in the north, in an apartment or flat with a proper fireplace to grill your espetada, and learn about cabra and talho and wine and aguardente (not recommended)

talho is a butcher shop, and aguar'dente is "firewater" which is portuguese for distilled spirits made of fruit, like Grappa from italy or "Rakija" or "Rakia" from eastern europe
it's awful though, tried like three different varieties, including the home made from my local guy and they are awful, i mean, "grozde rakija" in serbia is bad but that stuff was like low grade vodka compared to the poison that is madeira aguar'dente

i miss serbian schivovitsa, omg, that stuff is like the divine, godly version of distillation
i did have some really great grape based rakiya one time in bulgaria... drank about 100ml of it and then went off and adventured in a crazy rural zone in north Sofia called Manisterski Livadi... at one point had one leg fully immersed in a hole of mud... man that was fun
