Your feed is dull because you don't follow the g-loaded people who interact heavily in the replies.
This will become more obvious once we get the boards and wiki working well, so that they all slowly disappear off the tweet-feed, and it grinds down to its base-level of vapid simpery.
As soon as we have the ability to discuss particular topics with npubs that are interested in those particular topics, we're basically freed.
I'd probably still occasionally post a selfie or repost someone's release note, but I already find myself spending multliple days hanging out in the same thread and the threads spawned by those threads and it's like.... We need a board. đ
Also gets rid of the need go follow and vet so many people because you can just go chat with whoever wants to chat about whatever you want to chat about. This means someone can onboard with zero follows and just join a convo that looks interesting.
Hashtags are a hamfisted attempt to recreate boards and it's like... just create the damn boards.
What's the closest we have to boards right now?
Communities?
The ideal for me is:
1. Write post about, let's say "how having more kids makes women live longer"
2. Select the communities/group chats/forums I want to share that post too
3. Let anyone with access to any of these communities reply, read-only for everyone else
4. Make these communities fully forkable
Communities, but they don't work well because the moderators has to approve every post, rather than every npub.
And communities aren't real boards unless you have a board UI. Like, there are 3 different communities with the same topics, sometimes, and they can't find each other.
If there are 3 communities called "relays", they should be listed together in the UI, so that an npub can decide which ones he wants to follow. And they should be able to merge and fork or change ownership.
Wiki's can help solve this too.
On the page about "Relays" I want to see:
- wiki entries
- hashtags linked to this subject
- forums (group chats) that discuss this
- kind-1's about Relays
- articles about Relays
- ...
In short, displaying wiki entries is only the start
Yeah, I just had the same thought, since the Wiki has a composite page for each topic, that could serve as a jumping-off point.
Nostr allows for complex workflows because you can have a gazillion views and constellations of the same data set.

I want to link to a Relay wiki that let's users discover what they are in whatever way they want.
For some that might be watching Instagram-like stories about it, for others it might be joining a forum full of golang geeks.

Just have to clearly separate the "chat" from the "forum" side of things.
Chat is where you say GM.
Forum is where you start serious conversation threads.

You usually can't see the busiest threads on trendlists. They're just some never-ending discussion some small account started and more more people strolled into.
Is this a hard algo to implement maybe?
As in, does it take significant computation to crawl through all those replies on replies?
Still I'd pay for that compute if it can give the deepest recent convo-threads (especially with WoT).

I think you're interesting, too, tho, but I tend to want to talk about particular topics on here, so you'd probably get more interaction from me if you were hanging out on a gardening board and I'm sperging out on gardening stuff again and want to discuss that for 5 days straight.
I do the socializing stuff on SimpleX, I guess, so when I'm on here, I just want to binge-chat about something specific.
And those are interesting topics in themselves and worth reading through. đ
I sort of suck at the real socializing stuff and influencing, and increasingly find myself ignoring the normal OP feed and just hanging out in my mentions.
That's why I like Freerse, as it has a nice interface for "continuing the conversation". Like, I can reply to an article, comment on a git commit, highlight part of a wiki page, etc. and then switch to Freerse to respond to responses. And then other npubs see the conversation or I tag them and it's like 20 people discussing English poetry in the 1700s, or something. đ
That is so fun!
Also, I don't care about what's trending overall. Usually inane blah blah or people squabbling.
I care about where the most active/recent discussion is about some topic I care about.
We're trying to solve that with DVMs and filters, but that's actually just something you can sort for, on a topic board.
