only reason that i doubt this is the case, is because hes posting a note which he couldnt do with a npub. or hes posting from another client

Hm, ok that’s good. But also not. Because it didn’t solve it then.

I don't use Damus so I can't offer specific help here but it sounds like something is wrong. If it were me, I would backupy nsec, uninstall the app, then reinstall it, and sign in with my nsec. Lastly, I would add another relay or two and try to follow people.

You may lose bookmarks doing this process. But if you’re new you might not have any

I’m new and I’m ok with loosing bookmarks. Need to be able to follow people to get a good experience here 😇 that’s most important for me.

Nope. None of things I tried worked. Not able to follow other users and not able to add relays 🤨🤨🤨

Let’s figure out one at a time. You have a follow button, right? What happens when you press it? Does it change to something else? If it does, what tells you you aren’t following the person?

I press the follow button, then it turns white and says “Unfollowing” (not unfollow) and when I look at my own profile I can see who follows me but I cannot see who I follow. And if I then revisit the users account I have just pressed to follow, the follow button is back to where it was and I can go through the same process again.

When I look at your profile, I can see that you’re following 1 new person, which means you’ve succeeded at adding one person!

Maybe the issue is that you’re pressing it twice when you should be once?

I’m on an older version of Damus (to preserve zaps) but I don’t see “unfollowing”. Just follow unfollow.

I actually use all of the ones that you already use so you're good there. Did you uninstall and reinstall? Are you able to follow people? You could also try another iOS client too, such as Plebstr, Nostur, Primal, or nos Social. Some may only be available on TestFlight.
