Obviously, I have many friends and family who live in Ukraine, and lately, the only discussions we have are about the US election and their fear of Trump becoming president. That's how things are fucked up! People of another nation afraid of someone will be elected in another state! Ukraine's corrupt government has bankrupted the country since day one of independence, and now it's on the brink of making hard decisions when Western support fades away! Nobody in Ukraine realizes these facts, and everyone thinks that someone owns something based on the useless Budapest Memorandum! Sad true story!

Interesting, if you think budapest memo is useless, what makes you think nato article 5 is not?

Budapest memo being useless make Ukrainians fall in fear, as well as a perception of article 5 being useless would put entire europe be scared af

Do you also think europeans, Australians, Japanese should really consider article 5 to follow the destiny of budapest memo or “this is different”?

Yes, entire world is somewhat stable due to global agreements (on paper) and the US military is the most important factor there, thats a fact

Global agreements on paper and the US military are only as good as the leaders and the administrations who are bound to them. I regret to say that the Biden administration can't even uphold the American constitution. This is why the world is becoming less stable.

The real reason why the world becomes less stable is that after ww2 many people in the world decided that democracy works and humanity agrees on some basic rules. And then a bunch of terrorists decided to challenge this assumption. And the more those people hesitate the less stable this world becomes by showing other terrorists that democracy doesn’t want to fight for its freedoms and it would better give up as much as possible in exchange for some hopium that “this is different”

Don't forget that after WW2 America was able to hold these agreements. Only after passing from generation to generation have we seen corruption slip into the system and deteriorate the stabilizing ideals.

If we had strong politicians who cared about the ideals, bitcoin would have never of been created. There would have been no need to doubt the trust in government, but this is idealistic dreaming and not connected to reality.

This is why we need a systematic approach like bitcoin to remove the flaws of man/politicians and put the real price into our choices and purchases.

I feel your pain.

Illichivsk, now Chornomorsk in 2007, we were there for a friends wedding.

Have you made it to Odessa ?

Yes we flew in to Kiev, stayed at the Kozatskiy hotel in Independence square, then caught the overnight train down to Odessa. Then a 40 minute mini bus to Illichivsk.

Because it was a wedding party, we hired all the sleeper carriages for our group.

We then had the wedding in a restaurant on the beach, where I danced all night and got so hot, I went swimming with all my clothes on.

Was fantastic, one of the best trips of my life.

We were going back in 2014, but then shit happened, you know the rest.

Seems like a lot of fun! I been in Odessa once. No doubts that it’s one of the best cities to have a party at 😁

Sadly the party was in Illichivsk, but we did visit Odessa, it was beautiful. We walked down the Potemkin steps and then caught the funicular back up.

My friend has many relatives in the Illichivsk / Odessa area. Most of the younger generation have left, most of the older generation are resigned to their fate.

Would you care about trump if you were in Ukraine?

Well, USA owns something to Ukraine. If Budapest Memorandum isn’t respected by USA, what’s the point in trusting any promises they do in any international agreements?

P.S. I don’t think Putin would have made decision to do full scale invasion if Trump would have been president back then. As Trump is too unpredictable.

The USA has been overly generous to all of our ally’s in the name of democracy and freedom. This generosity has lead our ally’s down a path of dependency. Like the wild animal being fed by the generous farmer, they have forgotten that their survival demands independence. The animal forgets how to forage or hunt, and when the farmer moves away or no longer provides, the animal soon dies of starvation, unless they can remember their true instincts.

The USA cannot sustain all of our ally’s in all of the worlds’ conflicts indefinitely and simultaneously, it is impossible. Our ally’s must stand on their own two feet. Countries like Ukraine ought to have invested heavily into fortified defenses, trenches, bunkers, and other means of defense from the east. Unfortunately their corrupt governments and greedy interests have sold the lie that it was unnecessary to do so because big brother USA would protect them.

You reap what you sow, and USA try as we may to protect the world, cannot do so unilaterally, and therefore all will be lost if others do not stand up for themselves.

It is a warning to all nations that peace is not a guarantee, and defense ought to be a priority.

You guys think that USA is making allies in the name of freedom and democracy? Whole USA presence and alliance with Europe countries has only one purpose: secure their supremacy as superpower and stop other wanna be supremacies from strengthening in the region.

What are your thoughts on Adeevka and the inability of western media to report accurately on the war.

Apologies if my spelling of Adeevka is incorrect.

https://www.bbc.co.uk/news/world-europe-68323366

You see here , that the BBC cannot even admit that Ukrainian troops had retreated, instead they say 'leave' .

Avdiivka has fallen. Kind the same situation as happened with Bakhmut. A lot of solders died and surrendered. City destroyed. Ukraine blames west for not giving enough AMO 🤷‍♂️

The human cost of this is shocking, and angers me greatly. It is easy for other countries to claim that 'we will fight to the last Ukrainian' , when it is not their blood being spilled.

if the media where more honest about the realities of the war in Ukraine, then they would be more inclined towards the prospect of peace I would imagine., but western media assures people that victory is inevitable, and more get sent to the meat grinder.

Eventually the barbarians will be at the (metaphorical) gates and those who have been living inside the Regime's Dream will have a rude awakening
