It's a bunch of unsubstantiated assumptions repeated by many tech sites. There has been no reliable source claiming it and it wouldn't be specific to phones since many other devices also have radios. OEMs we're in contact with aren't aware of anything stopping them supporting alternate operating systems in Europe.
For sure. There is no good information basis to back this aledged act to make alternate OS unfeasible in the EU.
As also mentioned from nostr:nprofile1qqs9g69ua6m5ec6ukstnmnyewj7a4j0gjjn5hu75f7w23d64gczunmgpz4mhxue69uhhyetvv9ujumt0wd68ytnsw43q4gnztg, on Pixel and on future OEM's to be added, GrapheneOS will be installable.
When looking for reliable second source like c't magazine, or other relyable journals, it is unplausible that the story is true.
When it is true, the law or political speeches regarding this can be cited as proof.
I thought it is important to mark this note, since it gets a lot of interaction, while most probably being a malicious production. Very likely people are afraid for believing in such false claims.
What are your thoughts. I am happy for a open discussion.

Google is taking actions which cause further harm to AOSP-based projects. We're worried about some of what's happening and we may have to end up entirely focused on OEM partnerships for future devices. We're not sure if we can support future Pixels so the OEM partnership could become the only option.
I hope that a solution can be found to keep the same quality OS, on Pixel or other devices. To be honest I would even prefer if you could work on your own hardware with design optimized for security and privacy but I guess it would require much more ressources.
Each time you buy a pixel you support financially google and make it even more powerful.
