I’m using https://lnlink.app to pay invoices. It’s an iOS app I wrote to use a CLN node as a lightning wallet. It works great in the air, it connects directly to my node at home over the lightning network. No tor or vpn needed. Super fast! Since it connects over lightning instead of the web, there are fewer connection round trips needed, so it’s probably the fastest way to pay with lightning in the air or from space 🚀🤓

I plan on integrating lnlink directly into damus soon! This will be the first of many ways to connect to external nodes for direct payments without having to leave the app to pay.

Woah wait... Are you using the lightning network as a sort of onion router? That's dope af!

Not even that, just a direct connect to my node via lightning and rune-authenticated rpc’s via custom lightning messages

No REST or spark needed?

nope. pure CLN jsonrpc calls over lightning. Works great 😁

At the risk of sound cheesy. Dope af 👍👍👍

Fancy, you are. That’s awesome from 10000ft up

when i tried using lnlink the script from lnlink.app put out hostname as an onion address, should I have something else enabled? i guess because my node is not accessible from clearnet?

Yeah its a clearnet only thing. I built it for speed in mind and tor is slow af

do i need a static ip to accept incoming connections from clearnet then? probably not, seems like i missed a step somewhere while setting up cln

TCP sockets?

Lightning is tcp yes. Tcp + noise

Thanks for confirm Will

Barely learning about LN. But LDK mentions their usage
