## Amber - 1.0.0 - Beta 1

- Amber now supports nip 46

- There's 3 versions of the application to download now:

- Play - This uses the google services push notifications

- Free - This uses ntfy push notifications

- Offline - This does not support nip 46

Download it with [Obtainium](https://github.com/ImranR98/Obtainium) or download it directly in the [releases page

NIP-46 woot! Thank you.

What is the long-term roadmap? Are you playing to be in Google Play Store?

I'll try fdroid first. Then I'll see if I can add it to the play store

Sounds good. Also, how do I work out which version of Obtanium and your app to install?

When adding Amber to obtainium it should automatically show only the apks that are compatible with your device, then you just need to choose the play version if you don't want to use the ntfy application to handle your push notifications.

If you want to use ntfy them download the free version.

Thanks, would you say ntfy involves much of a learning curve? Also, is F-droid easier/better than Obtanium? What is the likely timeline for you guys launching in the F-droid store?

I prefer using obtainium to download apps but I think it's harder to install apps with obtainium.

Using ntfy was easy, I just installed it, installed amber and then nfty already started working

Thanks for sharing your advice and experience. Obtanium sounds like a good thing to be getting into if you are into installing apks, so I will check it out, thanks again!

Sorry, one more question. I've now installed Obtanium. But what is the app source url to generate the dialogue box shown above? Thanks!

Hi. What is the difference between free and offline?

The offline version can only talk to native apps, the online version can use bunker login usually web apps have this

Do you recommend I download from F-Droid or Obtainium? Would the offline version keep my nsec more secure? Can the offline version generate new keys? Thank you. Sorry if many questions.

I prefer using obtanium or zapstore because the releases are faster there.

You can generate new keys using the offline version.

In theory your keys are safer when offline but im not a security expert

Thank you. I hope to be able to zap you in the future when I can.

This looks awesome but what dose the QR code scanner do? Is it finally the part of NIP-46 that supports connections created by the client? https://github.com/nostr-protocol/nips/blob/master/46.md#direct-connection-initiated-by-the-client

Yes, it's the nostrconnect:// uri

You can also send the uri directly if you don't want to show a qrcode

awesome, I'll look into adding support for that in noStrudel. it would be cool to have the app show a qr code and then scan it with my phone to login

a 1.0 release on the play store for the play version would be bigπŸ‘€

Amazing! Im going to test it!

Btw related to citrine, what is the use case rn? Can i use it as a cache relay in amethyst or other?

Rn you can use it as a cache relay in nostrudel and in applications like amethyst you can add it to your relay list and use it like any other relay.

I think only nostrudel has the cache option

Nice thanks! Btw just tested amber bunker! πŸ”₯πŸ”₯πŸ”₯

I had to use the one with play services since i dont have a ntfy configured but works flawlessly

I noticed a bug where renaming the account doesn't save on this beta, can file a GitHub issue if you prefer.

File a bug report please. If you can send some screenshots or video.

Also you need to press the confirm button at the bottom to save

will do later today, thanksπŸ€™πŸ»πŸ€™πŸ»

citrine this is good!

does amber works with all mobile browsers (if the app like nostrudel supports) ?

For the nip 46 yes. If using the Use Amber button in nostrudel them you need a browser that supports reading the clipboard

Thanks - understand better now - https://www.xda-developers.com/stop-apps-reading-android-clipboard/ reverse

Once you know which app(s) you want to prevent from reading the clipboard, enter the following: cmd appops set READ_CLIPBOARD allow

It doesn't work for me, with ntfy installed, do I need to configure ntfy somehow?

Did it create something like this in ntfy? Try force closing amber and opening it again if it didnt create a new topic there

Hi

hyy

I think #noStrudel is the first app to support the nostr-connect process initiated on the client side thanks to nostr:npub1w4uswmv6lu9yel005l3qgheysmr7tk9uvwluddznju3nuxalevvs2d0jr5 for adding NIP-46 support to amber

This is only on the next.nostrudel.ninja version for testing (which is why there are timeline loading bugs)
