Ok this may be a stupid question: what services are good to get data etc. for the Grapheneos? I had gotten myself excited about getting it set up this summer, but discovered my phone was locked by Verizon and I could not. It is my intention to get it installed on my next device purchase, but what is the procedure for securing unlimited data. I need to be able to have that plus hotspot ability so I can continue to reliably work remote 🤔

i heard louis rossman started a phone service, could be good

I will investigate 🤔

Rossmann helped the founder of CalyxOS (which is now dead) start it.

buy used, factory unlocked. Carrier shouldn't matter (as far as compatibility)

Ok thank you 🥰

this is the way

The data comes from your data plan. I use a combination of Tmobile and silent.link with a portable starlink just in case. I’ll bring some gear Thursday.

You can use Verizon still even with a carrier unlocked phone. Just make sure the Pixel you are buying carrier and OEM unlocked. You can ask the seller about this if buying used. All the phones I've purchased from bestbuy unlocked have been OEM unlocked and have had no issues. If you pay off your carrier locked phone sometimes they can unlock it for you, not sure if they can with pixels but I've heard about this.

Hmm it is paid off now but when I checked this summer they couldn't unlock it. Maybe I can try again 🤔

Just looked it up and even if Verizon carrier unlocks the phone they can't OEM unlock it. You'll have to buy an OEM unlocked phone to install other operating systems on Pixel phones.

Yea I suspected. Now I know better so next device will be unlocked and I'll get grapheneos. For now this phone is still working so I'm letting it coast while I upgrade my other stuff to freedom tech 🥰

you can get a Pixel in good condition on swappa.com for pretty cheap.

yeah Verizon is particularly buttheaded about this

You just a sim card from the provider compatible with your phone. Mint worked fine with my unlocled Pixel

Excellent thank you 👍
