New battery in the old Suunto Vector. Love this watch, it’s custom made by combining two Vectors to make one all-black negative display version. It’s been through some things! #olas365 #suunto #wristcheck #watches #diy #hacktheplanet

done with the garmin or different use cases?

Yeah, different purposes. There are some environments that I cannot wear the Garmin - even with its stealth mode, it can still technically send/receive data so I cannot wear it. I can take it off but it’s a nuisance. This old beater is SCIF approved.

Considering selling the Garmin actually.

Awesome that you’re keeping it alive. 👏🏻

Yup! New battery and new rubber gasket. The o-ring seals on these stretch and have to be replaced every few years. Suunto is good about spare parts.

Nice! You’re also learning how to repair and restore which is a forgotten skill in my opinion.

Yeah. I’ve done a lot of watch design and tinkering in my time - no pun intended. I love the challenge of keeping old gear working. This works perfectly, it’s just well worn. #wabisabi

That is incredibly cool. Thanks for sharing. 🙏🏻

Reminds me of taking apart calculators, flipping the LCD, and then you have the same black background display.

Exactly. I actually wrote a detailed Instructable post about converting a G-Shock display to a negative one. Pretty easy. https://www.instructables.com/How-to-convert-a-plain-G-Shock-DW-5600-to-a-negati/?amp_page=true
