What android phone should I get if it won’t be my main driver?
I’ll be mostly testing apps on it. Prefer nicest screen but don’t care for cameras, storage or anything else you’d want out of a daily driver.

Pixel 5 and over can run GrapheneOS as option.
Store doesn’t even seem to sell 5 anymore?
Can get cheap off eBay.
That place still exists?! 😆
Check out Swappa.
Have you checked the one from nothing.tech ? I think it’s on Android…
I went top of the line pixel 7 pro and it’s screen is definitely its nicest feature. IMO, The rest of the phone feels sort of cheap in comparison to an iPhone.
Very expensive non-daily driver though. I will probably downgrade before too long.
Thanks. I prefer something on the cheaper end as I won’t be using it much. Can compromise on screen a bit - doesn’t have to be the best.
Looking at pixel 6a atm
I use a pixel 6a as a daily driver, it is a pretty good phone for cheap. Screen is great, 60Hz only though. Fantastic camera. Battery gets me a day, even with obsessive Nostr use. Graphene OS capable too.
If I would choose it would probably be Pixel or Nothing
Not Samsung ?
Closed source, proprietary blobs, a nightmare to develop on
I dont like Samsung. Hardware perspective its amazing, but software, I had experience in a past with all the Samsung stuff, bixby etc, it was just a nightmare. They moved from it a bit, but still…
Also as a mobile developer I just hate Samsungs - check this https://dontkillmyapp.com/
I'm using a Xiaomi (after I reinstalled the OS to remove the ads x3)
I would also recommend a used Google pixel. Google is the only manufacturer that delivers a pure android experience, no bloatware.
Get an older gen, like pixel 3xl....or get a pixel 1 and enjoy free unlimited photo and video backups (you can copy media to it from any other device)
I would suggest pixel fold or razr + so you can test apps and how they could be used with different form factors.
Unless you really want a default Android experience, maybe an older Pixel with Grapheme/Calyx?
