What do you all think about criminal background checks for work?

My employer is asking for one (he made sure to include that it is not obligatory and I can opt out if I'm uncomfortable with it).

That's what people used to call a "stupidity test"

None. You get the job either way. You just get paid more if you refuse the background check. Because you're smarter.
