I just realized that on Instagram I never see any posts by friends except in stories. The feed is a mix of advertising, suggested follows, organizations I follow & viral influencer types. The people I know only show up in stories. This is how Threads works, not what we want as a twitter replacement. It’s somehow a worse nightmare than what Elon has done to twitter.

It's pretty annoying, I wanted to delete the account but it's the last social media I have that is closed and keeps in touch with old friends and family. There is no means to only show "followingL
I still homehow manage to see some of my actual friends in my feed, but you're absolutely right, it's mostly stuff being forced on me. Im not a reels guy myself; not a fan of short form video. And I hate to admit it, but the damn advertising is targeted enough that I've clicked on quite a few shops already and I'm sure they'll just keep suggesting more and more, but I barely log into insta/threads.
