As a general rule I don't take temperature lowering medicine (or pain relievers in general). The one exception is if I have a very high fever and can't sleep. I figure that getting some sleep is more important than the fever, but I only take it at bedtime so I can get some rest, and allow the fever to return in the morning if my body thinks it is needed. A low fever isn't sufficient to stop sleep, so I don't take anything under that situation.

That’s my tactic normally. Are we saying we shouldn’t do that?

I think that is fine. It is eliminating the fever entirely that causes the big problems. I figure getting no sleep hurts my immune system more than not having a fever.
