To live where I work, and have a comfortable life I would need to earn 5x my current hourly income, working full time.

About $240,000 /year at $115 /hour.

Maybe I did the math wrong, or approximated my costs wrong.

But houses are about $500,000 , & rents are about $3,000 to $3,500

Monthly groceries is about $400 to $600.

Car insurance is about $200 / month.

Gas is about $100 / month.

Phone is about $80 / month.

Am I crazy, or stupid?

This doesn’t include luxuries, just the basic necessities.

I can try to fine tune this by finding cheaper towns nearby, or by finding cheaper living which I didn’t do in detail yet.

I need to look at everything is detail more later on.

Insane How much energy we have to put out just to sleep over a roof

To be fair I might have miscalculated but I’m not sure.

I’ll re-run the numbers later on tonight, and figure out the more accurate costs.

To me everything there is kinda what i would say im paying as well. Pretty much

Yeah climbing on top of the apartment building every night is a massive pain.

Seems you may be a little low on the groceries but I don’t know your location. Those numbers generally comport with my location otherwise.

I am in California, and I'm accounting for only myself, not a family, or anything.

Ok, I re-ran the numbers.

The Annual Cost to Live where I work is about $48,230.16 / Year.

Mind you this doesn't include variable costs like gas, water, electricity, entertainment, or any other adult bills people have to pay.

(Medical Coverage is Covered by my employer).

I think I accidentally did monthly expenses, and multipled them by 52 instead of 12 💀.

I don't where I got silly but I did.
