A Slav meets American in a sandwich

I'm ready for sandwich.

Squad mastah in the optimized stance. Neutral, socializing, war and even love position all in one

I can relax, I can attacc.

HahahahahhahHa

Bro, you're not supposed to snort that gunpowder 🀣

That was liquid

Ah, some literal firewater.

Interesting

Creamy & crunchy, sweet & salty.

Such a good combo.

Must try

It's a good flavor. You see it in Asian cuisine sometimes too, peanut sauces with vinegar or citrus for the acidity. Very tasty.

For sure . It makes sense.

Reminds me of a prego craving or a stoner one . πŸ˜‚ surprised I haven’t tried it considering I’ve been both πŸ˜‚ I do love me some pickles and pj sands tho.

It is a meme for pregnancy cravings πŸ˜‚ My Granny fed me these as a youngster. Depression era food, passed down through time.

Are you pregnant?

With deliciousness, yes, I am now.

πŸ«ƒπŸ»

Comfort food. My granny always made these. It probably dates back to her living through the great depression.

Wait you're not joking.

πŸ’― serious Jay.

It tastes really good πŸ‘

I tried this for the first time recently, was not disappointed.

Try it with "bread and butter" pickles -- apparently this is something of a staple in Southern cuisine...

I'm a garlic dill pickle maxi for this use case. I've never really like bread and butter pickles. I should try them again some time soon.

Get sour ones and add a slice of tomato and salt with pepper πŸ§‚

Game changer πŸ€™

This sounds good!

Bread and butter pickles are overly sweet. Not crunchy enough. Dill pickles. πŸ’―

I was not ready for this.

It's ready for you though. Try it! πŸ˜‚

Looks disgusting but im gonna try it.

Delicious. Savory and salty are a good match!

Pickles and pickle juice are great but you ruin them with seed oil butter

Thai peanut sauce with a little acidic bite is great too, vinegar or citrus.

I try to avoid any diet that is highly restrictive, vegans and carnivores are equally crazy and annoying in my experience πŸ˜‚

Highly processed seed oils aren't great if they are a major part of your diet, but anything in moderation is fine. I focus on eating whole foods, and avoiding processed stuff for the most part. I try to avoid things not available before the 20th century, that's when processing really took off. Works great for me so far.

As far as peanuts are concerned, humans have eaten them for thousands of years. Anything with that long of a history should be safe, especially in moderation. 2 tbsp on a sandwich won't harm me.

I think there can be a balance but people underestimate how bad seed oils are. It takes like 7 years to detox from it. I do think carnivores are extreme. Your brain uses sugar for energy and muscles store sugar for power. Converting fat to glucose is inefficient for athletes.

Oh yeah I'm not a seed oil proponent. I stick to animal fats, plus olive and avocado oil for cooking. Both of which have been used by humans for hundreds of years.

The modern seed oils require huge amounts of processing, which is where the danger lies. In whole foods the amount you actually get is negligible, plus they haven't been through the chemical/heat/mechanical processes that make them dangerous.

I used this way of looking at food to drop about 40% of my bodyweight, after a life of eating primarily processed food, and I've kept it off for over 12 years now. I just try to eat primarily whole foods, cooked by me.

Still better than pineapples on pizza.

HERETIC! πŸ˜‚

Do you toast the bread or no?

Either way is fine. Toasted gives a good flavour for sure.

I thought the toasted bread would work well with the crunchiness of the pickle. Then again I never tried the combo. Pickle juice and peanut butter go well together?

Yeah, the crunchy is a nice feature of this, toast can add to that.

Peanuts & something acidic are a great flavour together. Thai peanut sauce is another popular one. Lots of examples of this combo in various Asian countries.

This is true. Thai cuisine does this a lot

I notice it a lot in Filipino food too.

Laos as well

Most Asian countries I think actually. I like to learn new recipes, and I've taken a lot from Asian sources.

It's crazy how things that don't taste good individually can be amazing in combination, I'd never drink fish sauce on it's own πŸ˜‚ Or things you already love can gain a whole new dimension once combined. Learning to cook is a great part of life, most people don't these days unfortunately.

Knowing how to cook his key. Really easy to stay healthy that way

πŸ’―

I taught myself to cook years ago, best idea ever. I eat tasty things, people love having someone around who can cook, and your health benefits greatly. All wins.

Knowing what ingredients are in your food is underrated

☝️ if it has an ingredients label you're fucked πŸ˜‚

To each their own, but you can no longer be trusted when it comes to food.

All my friends think I'm a great cook πŸ˜‚

πŸ˜‚ you have very nice friends or…

I just recognize good flavour combos when I taste them. Peanuts (savory) & acidity is a great combo, be it with vinegar or citrus. Think Thai peanut sauces. Lots of this in Asian & Filipino cuisine. This sandwich has history stretching back at least 100 years, so obviously it tastes good to a lot of people. Anyone I've introduced it to is always pleasantly surprised.

I get it. salt, fat, acid, heat. All the components to a tasty meal. πŸ€πŸ‘

πŸ’― 🀝

This sammy is a great salty, acid, savoury combo.

I’m going to make one this week. πŸ˜‚
