Alaska would be a great place for the USA to get into #Bitcoin mining. ⛏️

Why? What power source?

Hydroelectric and cheap natty gas.

If they had either of these thj gs then why do they have some of the highest electricity rates in the country?

is there a "bad" place?

Bruh… what are you talking about?

1. It's freezing.

2. Lots of Petro.

I'm not talking about going to the existing market for electricity.

1. ASICs don’t like to be THAT cold. Typically optimal performance (for air cooled machines) when ambient is between 40 and 55 F.

2. If you’re suggesting any type of off grid operation, it would be far more expensive than just plugging into the grid nearly anywhere else in the developed world.

It would make for some killer photo shoots but REALLY expensive corn.

1. A proper warehouse would allow you to use the stifling outdoor temps to control the hot indoor temps.

2. With a proper time horizon and a good nation state-level deal, hooking directly into Alaska petrol would pay off.

1. You can already do that in less extreme locations.

2. On no time horizon does Bitcoin mining get more profitable, so the elevated OPEX only becomes more of a deterrent over time.

What a statist🤣🤣. With a "good nation state-level deal" all sorts of bad ideas can become "profitable".......like solar in Alaska 🤣

The face of a cunt.

Strong rebuttal 🤣🤣

Doesn’t make him wrong…

Agree, this is a mid wit take for sure. There will be opportunities to bupower from hilariously bad solar investments that happened on Alaska, but iko mining in AK is unlikely to take off anytime soon.
