oof ... Just had a customer come in (I'm a truss designer) and he saw bitcoin on my screen. He asked if I knew how to recover funds. I said I can look. Sadly, he got scammed out of 13k worth of shitcoins connecting to a web3 site and giving his seed. 1 ETH and most of the rest was xrp with a sprinkling of other shitcoins. He didn't have any bitcoin. I guess he has nothing now. Older guy. Framer. He seemed a bit upset but I think I told him what he already kind of figured was true.

We left it at lessons learned and I told him Bitcoin only. He seemed to really grasp that the rest is shit and Bitcoin is the only thing worth buying. I hope he builds back up from here.

He was scammed. Even if he had Bitcoin he would still have lost his money.

Bitcoin the only one? Ever heard of diversification?

There are a few other monetary coins that do very well against Fiat, but are much easier to use than Bitcoin, especially if you're poor.

We:d all be better served teaching 3rd Worlders about Litecoin, or Bitcoin Cash, than Bitcoin.

Monero isn't good for newbies, Bcash is a failed fork that people don't really talk about or use, ETH is just the fiat system in drag. All the other shitcoins are just trying to ride Bitcoins coattail. In the end Bitcoin is the best base layer that people can build on.

That wasn't the point of me saying bitcoin only. Bitcoin only as in don't mess with web3 bs which is how he got scammed. My advice was Bitcoin only, buy and hold and never give your seed to anyone.

I don't have time to argue with you about what the superior asset is. The evidence is clear.

That's why we just say HFSP.

I don't think it was the right lesson learnt. If he didn't had ETH and gotten himself some BTC instead, he still would have lost it. The lesson here is not connect your wallet to any web3 site.

And ofcourse, anything except BTC is shit, but that lesson he would have learnt far later in the future, if he hadn't lost it all. 🙂
