1%? How far back are we going? WWII?
Discussion
Since 1913 was the true birth of fiat that would make sense.
I found a source that says militaries contribute an estimated 5.5% of total greenhouse gases annually. So if that’s a proxy for total pollution contribution, then they are doing more than I thought.
I don’t consider carbon pollution, but all the other toxic shit and physical waste produced by militaries has got to be absolutely massive. Now I think it could be well in excess of 1%.
So all the governments of the world could reduce carbon emissions by ≈5.5% collectively tomorrow by ceasing their war machines… interesting
I think two nukes probably ups that percentage. And then if you include NASA in “military”…
Plus weapon testing
Well imagine all the nuclear testing. Easily thousands of tests.
Yeah, it’s a lot of pollution.
Yeah and none of the hardcore virtue signaler’s who buy EVs care that the vehicles aren’t possible without mass scale child slave labor.
The same people who wear shirts that say “protect trans kids!!!!” 🤣🥴
Nothing to see here. Eat ze bugs to reduce your carbon footprint…
