My #proofofwork for this evening.

Moved the cattle to the next pasture.

Here's a trick I use often. If your cattle are trained to electric fence, it's a psychological barrier not a physical one.

Therefore, you can string up any white rope (white because I use white poly wire for temporary fencing) and use it fill a gap and funnel them where you want them to go.

Like here, the lane is 20 feet wide, but the gate is only 16 feet. The rope is just loosely tied in place to create the illusion of a fence so the cattle will turn through the gate.

If you aggressively pressure them and jam a whole crowd against the barrier, one will push through and the illusion will be broken, but if you let them file through at their own pace, works great.

At polyface we routinely would use reels of poly tape as bluff fences when moving cows. Either to close gaps, to set up laneways, or as a moving back fence/gate to push groups forward.

That’s awesome. Will they ever test it and try and jump/get through it? Appreciate the info 🤝👊🫶

Eventually they will. It's just for temporary instances. Like today, once I moved them all through, I took it down and closed the gate.
