how often do motivation letters get read these days, with most of them being ai generated slop?
don't seem to find it worthwhile when applying for jobs to make one for each position

Not in HR, but that is was I have done before AI. i only exchanged modules and adapted them to the job description, 80% were always identical
not hr, but had an acquaintance that worked hr for a large company. she told me that she would dump the first half of applications in the "bin" because she didn't want to hire someone who is unlucky.
