🎙Quote of the Day🎙️

#[0] “The whole point of nostr is that it can't be stopped simply by taking an app off the app store.

If the CCP or Charlie Munger want it banned you're probably doing something right.”

🚨Headline Nostr News🚨

—--------------------------

Damus App approval brings on tsunami 🌊 of new users and reaches 56k app store downloads and steadily climbs up charts of most popular app. #[2] #[3]

#[4] notes that most of these users appear to be from China according to his relay data #[5]

Unfortunately, Damus was quickly 👀banned from the China App Store with the Cyberspace Administration of China 👀citing illegal content. Good thing Damus didn’t get put on the China app store on 🍆D-Day🍆.

#[6]

Even though Damus App is now banned in China, it appears that some relays are still able to service Chinese clients.

#[7]

Speaking of relays, the surge in popularity of nostr has caused relays to be overwhelmed with record number of clients connecting. Eden relays hit with 800k new requests from China and 600k from US clients. Cameri and FiatJaf think scaling horizontally is the only solution.

#[8]

#[9] reminds us that GitHub is a centralized service subject to US sanctions and can be blocked by the Great Firewall, increasing the utility for a Nostr GitHub replacement. FOSS is incredible but needs to be hosted on a decentralized service to reach its full potential.

#[11] poses the question: “are ordinals an ⚔️attack⚔️ on #Bitcoin?” Luxor mining admits to stealing pool contributors hash in order to pull off the 4MB jpeg stunt with Udi and Eric Wahl.

🔵 THE NOSTR REPORT #[0]

Hey look ma I made on the nostr report 😁😁

FAKENEWS NostReport!!!!!! I didn’t claim books where useless just for clarification, I feel proud to make the news though, thanks.🤣

Sorry we messed up the bit where Andrew Tate is the dildo imbecile book burner and not you. To rectify please accept this token of mutual understanding.

Love the Nostr report. But it ruins my notifications :(

😂💜 I’ll take the signal sir

Take the signal all day

I would like the Nostr Report to exist outside of Nostr, so that people on the outside can see that things are happening here and jump in.

True!

Link them to this until there is a long form platform serving web sockets here and on the web too… https://brb.io/n/fa19fd1ebacf51bbd4a8566568745e1b5c9f54f75f72b82a7b039c2403fdcbe3

outside of nostr notifications too 😂

Yes. Also it ruins my notifications hahah

Nostbin!

binstr!

I would say it needs to exist outside Nostr in addition to inside Nostr. The main purpose of nostr report starting was to gather and summarize notable posts and happenings for people using Nostr because once you miss something it can be hard to find it, or you may never even know it happened. But it also needs to be accessible for those not on Nostr yet. Agree 100%

For the critics complaining about notifications and scrolling too much, this is a client issue. Clients need to get better at handling long form notification management. This is not something unique to what NostReport is doing.

I completely agree. #[18] is just the first mover in a nascent space to bring up this issue. Asking users to voluntarily push all long form content outside of Nostr won’t fix the problem as it doesn’t prevent someone else from doing it (eg,#[21] ). There needs to be a client focused solution, or if Nostr is truly for short form content then a character limit in the protocol itself.

Cc #[21]

How about a simple truncated, read more?

I’m not a developer but that seems a simple enough solution, at least from a user standpoint.

all I know is all this talk about nostr report ruining our notifications is additionally ruining my notifications..!

we need a mute optionality for posts at some point

Just wait til you get in a #plebchain thread 🤣

🥲

I think that helps fix the long form issue. But not the other issue of notifications that #[2] brings up. For this I think clients need to enable users to mute or snooze/turn off notifications similar to how telegram or signal do it. Maybe even for certain threads that get out of control (eg, anytime someone envokes the “he who shall not be named” bot)

Worse, much worse

Love catching up on this after coming home of a day of work 🫡

The kids are finally all nestled in their beds, and now it’s time to put up your feet, put on some god awful reboot sitcom from the 80’s on TV and fire up nostr to take your mind off the fact you have to go back to the fiat mines tomorrow. Here’s the #[0] to make life a little easier.

Stay classy nostr.

#[1]

Hah. Crushing it man! Dad life is a good one but demanding. Enjoy some R and R.

"Fiat mine" makes me smirk everytime. 😏

🤙

😆 dad I've made the news

Not sure if I should be proud or embarrassed that I knew about 80% of the report.

Proud, definitely proud ✊

Is it possible that all relays were blocked by greatwall?

Possible

same 😂

This is great!
