On a scale of 1 to 10 where 1 is "nostr dev" and 10 is Christian, where am I? Answer any letter for "just some guy". Curious because I was raised to be loud about my faith. But I am not sure where the balance between obnoxious and helpful actually lies.

I'd put you at 5. When you show up on my feed it's equal parts Christian stuff and Coracle stuff.

I would say the bulk of interactions I’ve had or witnessed with you have been nostr-related, but you’ve always seemed to strike a thoughtful balance in what/how you share.

Also, I misinterpreted your question at first, and thought you were asking how “should” you find a balance, rather than “if” you do, so I wrote all of the below, too 🤙

My personal approach when it comes to spiritual conversation is to share my wisdom (if I feel I have some to offer) mostly just when I am asked, because if someone asks, they’re looking for a teaching will be more ready to hear it and able to integrate it.

There are times where I may have insight into someone’s situation or developmental needs, and though I may want to share it (even for selfless reasons), I’ve found those are especially important times to wait, and listen.

Practicing humility in those moments of feeling like “I know” often bring insights I didn’t expect.

When someone comes to me with a question, or is visibly seeking guidance, those are the moments where I feel it’s my role to share, and to communicate what I feel without “getting in the filter”.

Not sure how clear all that was, but hey, you asked 😉

I think between 3 and 4

You are a major nostr dev. Your faith and comments regarding Christianity cannot diminish that. I would never think less of your nostr dev credibility based on how much you talk about Christian things.

Of course if your comments about Christianity started to drown out your comments about nostr, I might start to have trouble following you due to the noise. You are nowhere near that point, far far from it IMHO.

you are not obnoxious. Neither are you judgemental nor do you force religion onto people. I've had exchanges with you on the interchangeable aspect of religion and politics and you had a realistic, non emotional perspective of it and I appreciate that. I'll go with the definition of one who is both passionate about his faith and the potentials of nostr, but doesn't impose

These things are not in competition with each other, nor do they need to be. You are in fact both, and your beliefs inform your work as a dev, and that shows, as every dev is informed by their own beliefs. Your authenticity is appreciated.

You are just some guy who is both a nostr dev and have strong faith. Much appreciation for you 🙂

You good bro

🫂

You are not obnoxious, you are fully expressing yourself in a balanced and gently way without any fear of judgment.

Because your are both, and this is perfectly fine.

But I got your perplexity about the matter from a social perspective, and there are two solution that don't ask to think at all about your balance: topical relays and NIP-32 labeling, of course :)

Keep posting yourself.

I'd say maybe a 4 but *only because I like listening to your podcast and it's name alone bumped you up 2 points 😁

I like it, I don't think nostr should be one account per topic. I think this is where turning the dial on relays (ie, reach) come in to play.. in my nostr fantasy world. 🦜

As attributed to St. Francis: Preach the gospel at all times; when necessary, use words.

On this planet there is nothing more divisive than religion. Shame on you for bringing it up.

Well, that's just, like, your opinion... Man

yes, but also important: St. Francis used words

they are, so very often, necessary

Since you’re asking, I would say your vibe is a little off. Like when you asked fiatjaf about the soul on your podcast. Thinking out loud here… maybe would say you treat heavy things as trite.

Interesting. Because I certainly take these questions seriously. In that episode I was still getting my feet under me as far as interviewing. It's hard to have spiritual conversations with unbelievers.

Well, enjoy your religion

Talking about faith will never be obnoxious, except to the ignorant. You’re a perfectly balanced Nostrich, regardless.
