Idk man, why does the American government love talking about how much a thanksgiving meal will cost EVERY YEAR.

And they never give details about what’s on the menu.

enjoy your soy tofurkey and beans

Thats the quiet part out loud.

Because everyone here knows what's typically on menu.

It’s because a “low cost alternative” is about to be introduced

My family general has Turkey, Stuffing, Mac and cheese, mashed potatoes, green beans, baked beans, broccoli and cheese casserole and bread rolls and there is some stuff called pink stuff that I have no idea what's in and I don't eat it

That’s a lot of sides! And you’re missing my fav sweet potato casserole with the marshmallows on top. 🤤

I forgot to mention sweet potatos with marshmallows, we have that as well I just don't eat it normally because I like all the other stuff better lol, yes it's a lot of sides. Oh also deviled eggs as well, just remembered, we have those as well 😂

That sounds fantastic. Send photos.

Better yet, send invite. 😄

Depends on what region you are in… and then, even in regions, folks cook things so, so different.

In my family, we dropped the turkey and sides a long time ago. Been thru a “let’s do a bushel of crabs and sides” moments, and lately have been in a “let’s just share meals and hop to different houses” moment.

As for why the gov likes sharing the costs… there’s likely a link between costs and consumer sentiment. Folks spend for food & family when things get tight, so the costs of a bigger meal might reflect towards other bits. Just guessing though… I’ve not looked into the data for a long while

That’s what I was thinking. There’s traditional but I bet that also gets boring. Crab boil for thanksgiving sounds wonderful though.
