anonymous phone ☎️
1.) buy a pixel 3a or higher refurbished or used
2.) flash calyxOS or grapheneOS to it
3.) buy a eSIM "data only" on bitrefill.com (160 countries supported)
buy with lightning, use one time email
4.) scan eSIM QR ---> phone does the setup
4.) use simpleX for voice and video calls
5.) firefox klar for web browsing
i think this setup is quite good
you only cant call people on their phonenumber
You can use JMP.chat for phone call functionality with the Conversations/Cheogram app. I ported my old number to the sandbox and it works pretty well.
Ooooo I like this 👌

Silent.link is another option
It's a good option but the data that Nostr uses will make you spend a ton 😅
They need to have an address on file dont they?
MintMobile extra Sims maybe?
Pick up physical SIM from the store with cash and refill with Bitrefill is a really solid combo. What I’ve done for my android that I do random experimenting and testing with. Intend for it to be a secondary/security phone. Possibly my main one for traveling.
Not yet, will do it next summer when I travel to Europe
The esims you download from bitrefill don't have a phone number, just data. But still a good option if you just need data. Or you could get a pay as you go physical sim and top up with bitrefill
Silent.link is also a good option for esims with and without a phone number. For security privacy they only allow inbound calls
I have been doing this and it works pretty well and I am on the road a lot. I do have 1 work phone that has bailed me out a couple times but...
https://calyxinstitute.org/ I picked up their 5g modem you pay upfront for the year but it is registered to a privacy focused non profit. All my devices tether to it.. My newest (degoogled)phone has only ever been connected to it... Signal/SimpleX/Matrix handle my voice/video depending on the community
