It's going to have albums and public messages, too, so you can send someone a link to a picture or video or album, you want to share.
Like, we could make a #Purplekonnektiv album, with a sub-album for each meetup, and collect everyone's 20, 22, and 22 events in there. And then PM everyone who attended.
It also has a pin board, already, where you can see your own images and videos, but also pin other people's (by creating a kind 20/21 wrapper for it or tagging it "gallery"). If you click on the purple pin, it goes to the original webpage or note.

We're combining, Instagram, Twitter, Pinterest, TikTok, Immich, and PMs, so that it's a media-focused daily driver.
The albums will use the Nostr Drive kinds, so it will actually be virtual UNIX directories, where you can organize any events into folders. The default view-filter will be for media event kinds and any other events containing media that have been tagged.
It will look like a file explorer. I've prototyped this, twice, so it's ready for Prime Time.

Albums are kind 30045 events, from NKBIP-04. Basically, UNIX directory folders.
You do you, but I would focus on lots of video editing tools, music offerings and ways for the video community to play with each others videos instead of multiple kinds. People that want videos don't like posts or pictures.
We're more picture people. The videos are not the main focus, for our client. This is an add-on, like Instagram adding reels. We will also include yaks.
We're going in the other direction, with semantic image search, pin boards, albums, PMs, an immich API and so on.
I'm fine, with leaving the video side open, for a different specialty client. But I think you can no longer have a picture-only client, if you want to offer a media-server frontend and general viewer. You have to handle all data types. Some other client might end up the preferred reels "viewer", and we just have to live with that.

Installed the app and immediately loved it because I can sign in with nsec.app bunker connection.
It's still read-only, but should also be write/sign permissioned, in the next larger iteration.
Making a TikTok clone is a fool’s errand, even big companies like Reddit have utterly failed at it, despite having millions of users and large development teams.
I actually worked on Reddit’s TikTok clone for a short period of time, and the biggest problem that Reddit couldn’t solve was that you need extreme amounts of content and advanced user analytics so that the app is able to serve the right content to the right audience. TikTok’s UI is extremely simple, you just swipe up to play the next video, so if you don’t have a big base of good content the feed will be boring and if you don’t analyze user data extensively the feeds will not be personalized enough for each user.
Nostr especially isn’t suited for this type of content, as people on it are generally privacy conscious and don’t want to be tracked, but without tracking the entire concept of the app doesn’t make sense.
And I’m not even getting into TikTok’s custom video player that only YouTube managed to parry, Instagram reels player is much worse despite billions in funding and years of development.
Too be fair, if people are swiping on tiktok all the time, I don't imagine quality content. I imagine doom scrolling.
Reddit has the content for that.
No one is making video content for reddit, all they have is reposted videos from other platforms.
It takes a lot to drag people into the doomscrolling hypnosis, Reddit has text and image content good enough for that, but videos are a completely different beast. No one is doomscrolling on the reddit video player, not even people who are doomscrolling regular reddit.

That is 100% one of the key features for TikTok success, but it is also the feature which would be easiest to copy or even surpass TikTok in. There are video editing apps that offer features that TikTok doesn’t have.
