Does the right to bear arms extend to cyberspace?

Like suppose you try to attack my website so I in turn hack your computer and destroy it.

Is that self defense?

when does a defence turn into attack?

Landmines. Cyber land mines

Id reckon there is a line

is there?

wouldn’t it depend on the severity of the attack?

then it would be based on a scale or a framework, because +0.87 attack deserves a -0.87 defence

Sure, that's the line. Kinda like trenches

the mainstream internet feels less free than meatspace these days

πŸ’― this was the norm in the 90's and early 00's and should be encouraged.....

FAFO !

No there is no self defense plea in the Computer Fraud and Abuse Act. US has old legislation use to lock up "hackers". But don't see them ever letting people do that.

If want to read more also lookup:

Stored Communications Act (SCA)

Electronic Communications Privacy Act (ECPA)

Defend Trade Secrets Act (DTSA)

Extension: should certain cyber munitions like viruses when used by state actors be considered war crimes?

Stuxnet was a war crime

They are going certain groups for war crimes now

Is your website your castle? What state are you in? Meaning do you have a duty to retreat. Maybe in the Deep, Deep South πŸ˜‰

My website is my place if business

Offensive measures to protect yourself, loved ones, and castle should be on the table imo. When that offensive measure results in physical harm of another human, may be the problem set to ponder.

That's actually a good fucking question

unfortunately, since we are a country largely governed by geriatrics who don't understand modern technology, no. no it does not.

So you want to talk projection of power in a digital cyberspace?!

There is really no greater projection of power.

This is a good Q though. Teach me how to hack the punks who try to take down my sites bro.

Keep a file on the server called pwd_unlock.exe and hope they are stupid

f_society.py

What kind of mayhem executes when they open it?

So much fun stuff, a key logger being most ideal 🫑

All of us reading your note

Don't try to hack me and there won't be no problems πŸ‘¨β€πŸ’»πŸ‘¨β€πŸ’»πŸ‘¨β€πŸ’»

I’m simply a padawan, but I wouldn’t hack you even I could.

I have a few jerks in mind tho πŸ˜‚

This sounds like a challenge to a duel hackers style.

I have CZ_airdrop.exe and for some reason they run it repeatedly.

I'm assuming you are referring to the US constitutional preservation of "the right to bear arms"?

Possibly if you are referencing defense of personal property which was first upheld in 2008 in the DC v Heller as being a legal reason to own firearms for the defense of one's home or personal property.

(Problematic will be the language and definition of "arms")

Yes

Whatever realm it may be, you have the right to protect your property.

That right there is a worthy question for a thesis

Feels more like a question of does the castle extend to cyberspace

Great question

What if I tell you to install a Bitcoin node that will destroy your computer and make it unusable, is that an attack?

It's an attack on poor people with shit PCs πŸ’―

Yes, self defense

Only if you name your tool weapon.exe
