💚🐜😀
Good morning :) How's the garden doing?
I find this so interesting:
Ants and aphids have a symbiotic relationship, as ants feed on the honeydew secreted by aphids. Ants milk aphids to obtain the honeydew and protect them from predators such as ladybugs.
However, ladybugs and their larvae are natural predators of aphids and eat them in large numbers!
I couldn't believe it until I saw it :D thats sooo interesting! thanks for the explanation :)
Nature is full of magic :)
some things are growing, some do not :p luckily this is in the forest, on that huge thistle plant that got another kopf größer 😯
That's just how nature is... it does its thing ;)
Good for you and the insects... this way they can pursue their purpose in peace... without being disturbed by humans ;)
This is actually an aphid farm ran by ants. Ants do literally farm aphids su drink sugar from the latter’s ass 😂
the other way around sorry 😂 so funny how you say that 😂
This is bad according to my other half as they encourage aphids who fuck it up.
I keep hoping some natural predators turn up as I don’t really vibe with being an ant killer… need more labybirds.
same here! I didn't try it but someone said menthol crystals help because of the really strong smell next to other methods like cinnamon that doesn't really work because the smell is not so strong
I wonder how you can attract especially ladybugs to your garden
I know you can buy lady bugs online, we bought a pack a couple of years back but they didn’t seem to stick around… maybe time to get some again. They sell the larvae in little packs.
Umbellifer flowers attract your beneficial insects parasitic wasps, lacewings the most and ladybirds too. All of them will help control aphids
thanks! 🐞🌸
Nice one, will check that out!
Such an amazing animal! We are starring at them for hours in our garden 😅🤣
