Cellphones proliferation was about three or four years ahead of that here in the US, I suspected as much and didn't want to immediately say 'fake'.

But he absolutely could not be playing a Harry Potter game in the 90s. Could just be mistaking it for something else or using Harry Potter as a catch-all, given this apparently was when he was in elementary school. Memories get hazy.

This, I'm very uncertain about the accuracy of dates myself, best estimate. Also other millenials like myself probably think of themselves as 90s kids even though they were born in the 90s and barely remember anything from that early childhood. So when we say 90s in fact we might be talking about up to 2005 which is not the 90s at all.
