jiu jitsu is revenge of the nerds

many very fit men think they can inherently fight & defend themselves, but when they do come to the gym they are flattened & humbled. See this on a weekly basis with shredded athletic newcomers and the look is always priceless.

everyone should try it to expand their reality

Zuck will always be a pussy.

Have you listened to a long for interview with him?

Movement > muscle

So humbling. Can’t have an ego when training Jiu Jitsu, only a willingness to fail and learn.

would love to, and get my kids (esp. daughters) into it but here it's $$$$

Yep the guy on the left could have you whacked by a top assassin and tortured by mossad for hours for fun 😂

On a different note, big respect for studying jiu jitsu. I did a short stint of about a year kick boxing in my 20s, i was very fit at the time and kick boxing was another level of fitness and training 🤙

muay thai and kickboxing can be as devastating and the cardio is unmatched

My lungs were on fire after short full on bouts

Certainly within the sport of jiu jitsu the more skilled opponent will win against a more muscular untrained adversary.

On a street fight the outcome is less certain if the weight and strength difference is large enough.

See early UFC days

any given sunday. but any amount of strength is practically quite useless to the untrained. one thai leg kick and theyre immobile, same with takedown

Fundamentally, you’re right that skill is the biggest factor in the outcome.

Sure, a jiu jitsu black belt will dominate an average joe with some muscle. That said I would have my money on Hafthor Bjornsson if he ever got on a street fight with Zuck.

decent bluebelt destroys average joe. hafthor has trained, still pretty ineffective from videos ive seen, useless when downed

Push come to shove I rather have hafthor by my side in a back alley than zuck.

I want to do jiu jitsu but from everything I've gathered it's a question of when you will sustain a serious injury not if. Most guys seem to have multiple ongoing injuries they are monitoring or actively nursing.

bs, ive been training professionally uninsured with no major injuries for years

always a risk tho tbf!

The key is to always never go beyond 70% during training and take as much arrest as needed between sessions. Conditioning and flexibility training can also prevent lots of unnecessary injuries. Also train with more experienced partners instead of with new white belts who just rely on their strengths

bingo

i don't think there is anyone who doesn't have an ongoing injury.
