Imagine your government built upon open protocols that they can’t own, control, or manipulate…every interaction visible to all. What changes? What fails?

I think the downside would be that individuals who don’t want to take responsibility for their own property (money, identity, communication protocols, etc), would suffer. The lazy and apathetic towards holding their own keys, for example, will always need the “help” of the government, and thus, government will always have some control over these things.

It feels like we will always be the minority in that sense. Societal apathy is the norm. Which is frightening.

well, instead of the government taking care about lazy people not willing to manage their assets, there could be some honest people around them doing it for them, if this would also be open sourced, I am talking about how the lazy people assets are managed, there will be consensus and distributed responsibility.
