no it isnt
Discussion
It definitely is.
first of all: everyone is someone
'so anyone who's anyone', entirely absolutely not cos that means the world is compromised of someones and no ones and sorry, no, not in my world
secondly: if you are not some fringe conspiracy freak, if some psycho with intense eyes comes up to you and asks if you are a patriot?
el oh fucking el
😭
thirdly, i know we hate the fuck out of leftists at this time in nostr culture, but it is literally the left, the communists, the lgbtqia+, the bois, the dolls, the xr/xm pronouns, the furries, the nightlife workers, the tumblrqueers, the fandom princesses, who are out here normalizing every single blackmailable thing there ever was and making that a'ok
so what is some cop cia freak gonna say to you?
thru the webcam i have footage of you putting frozen green grapes up your ass to birth little alien eggs while singing showtunes for your online queer keyholder domme?
twitter will literally say that's ok tomorrow
they literally have your back
count on some furry in 6 hours saying: mama! that's hot! i use frozen strawberries! yes baby! birth those grapes!
like let's be so actually fucking fr
gen z will not be blackmailed
millennials are fucking beyond dead they dont even care
alphas are growing up to execute whoever is left
gen x was always gone gone latchkey over it
stop working for the cia by feeding into this shit and making them scarier than they are and making them some crazy phantom force
the only people who are blackmailable are the people who played respectability politics the entire time and all institutions across the board are crumbling pretty damn fast
this isnt the 18th century british aristocracy
you cant be "ruined" for rumor or divorce or sex scandal with other adults
First off, that was hilarious. 😂❤
But... What if we don't want to live in a world where every possible thing is acceptable? I don't want any of that shit normalized. I also don't want anyone doing that shit to be bullied, either by the normal people or by the state.
The solution is privacy. Put tape over your camera, get a secure phone and then put tape over that too, cuz why not, and do all the rest of the stuff that protects your privacy. At your own pace, no pressure.
The choice is, unfortunately, a binary. Either we assume the state is the biggest criminal and protect ourselves, or we don't and we have to rely on freakish shit being okay, even though its not okay. If you know another option, let me know. Privacy is the winning move because it allows us to keep sane norms and still not hurt anyone for violating them.
There are just shy of 200 countries in the world. Most are unambiguously run by criminal organizations masquerading as legitimate authority - the facade in most places is laughably half assed. We only have the luxury of questioning this in a few of the western countries. Safety from the government **_is not normal._** I'd like the whole world to be safe - the road to that is **_not_** to pretend the biggest predators aren't the biggest predators. Always err on the side of caution.
i am really truly very sorry. the miscommunication is on my end, didnt take the time to be clear enough in words so you could follow along about the point i was making.
i saw the tiny video clip telluride shared.
they wrote: When things don't make sense with people's behavior, consider this.
you wrote: Pretty sure this is happening to anyone who's anyone
i wrote: no it isnt
what i mean is: i refuse to believe anyone who has a big following is in a hostage blackmail situation and that's why shit is like this.
as in: i am not giving anyone with a huge following the benefit of the doubt until works cited proving otherwise because i believe in people ~more~ than telluride and you
i believe, on balance of scales, way more people since 2020 would refuse to be blackmailed.
my riff was saying: even if you are someone who likes to keep your sexual life private, in the scenario of actually being blackmailed about something sexually humiliating, i dont think people would be pussies, and optimistically, as further proof and incentive to not be a pussy, the furries and sex positive people would have your back and we all know that. so literally truly sincerely: who would let themselves be blackmailed
of course privacy is important, ive had tape over the front camera of my ipad since i started using it. im never saying: dont protect yourself
im saying: there are way way way more mundane reasons for people's behavior and political inconsistencies and the choices they make and what they blank on and what they include and what their values and standards are, and if they live up to those every single day .. day in and day out.. then like: uh oh i think this is a thing about handlers
the handler thing is simply a very movie action film extreme scenario to me
i need way way way more proof that this is consistently happening
a much more mundane example: that sweet sweet aipac money
finally, to be unequivocally clear:
do i think it is a handler scenario if you have 3 million followers on ig? no
david beckham has 88.4 according to wikipedia. do i think he does? no
zendaya 176 million does she? i dont think so. would guess not
ok youtube
mr beast? eminem music? joe rogan? ed sheeran? no
ok? ok that's just where i am on it. obviously i do not know. this isnt my world or area i wouldnt actually know the first thing. i have no credibility or experience or institutional knowledge here. i am: an entire rando
now,
do i think it is possible that if you started, founded, own, run, a major broadcast channel, a newspaper, a social media platform, in the foreign service, are a diplomat, own a major sports team
that shit could have gotten that extreme, that dangerous, that fucked, and that insane?
~yes~
because now we are talking the arena of actual actual power and the ability to affect major major major money
for example: On 7 January 2021, Twitter temporarily locked the account of U.S. President Donald Trump after multiple controversies, including his use of the platform to undermine the results of the 2020 presidential election and to incite the January 6 United States Capitol attack. On 8 January, Twitter permanently suspended Trump's account, citing his violation of Twitter's Glorification of Violence guidelines.
for example:

from the article: "We've always banned individuals or organizations that promote or engage in violence and hate, regardless of ideology," a Facebook spokeswoman said in a statement. "The process for evaluating potential violators is extensive and it is what led us to our decision to remove these accounts today."
do i think that making decisions like this could lead to repercussions?
yes absolutely plausible to me
"Facebook's newest move to remove extremists like Alex Jones and Milo Yiannopoulos from the platform is just the latest piece of evidence that this is not the case.
The social media companies not only have the right, but an ethical responsibility to remove disinformation and hate speech and those who spread it from their platforms."
when you remove extremists who do you piss off? extremists
why would we imagine extremists in aggregate are a reasonable bunch who would take it on the chin with a laugh

Yes, this is correct. I was aiming for brevity and perhaps anticipating (joyously) triggering someone. If making people mad causes them to focus on something I think is important, then... deal.
