So what is it doing exactly? Just banning that priv key from using the app?

yes. Its an apple requirement. If your profile has the deleted flag it won't let you log in with it

Interesting. How do you reset a profile event

Damn... Ive redone my profile in snort, but still when I try to login to damus it says "Deleted Account".

I guess I can't use Damus anymore with my account...

you just have to remove the deleted flag from your kind0

Where? on kind0 on relay.damus.io ?

+1

Its weird though because I don't see a deleted flag anymore... i bet what is happening is that it somehow pulls an old kind0 version first... need to make sure all your relays have the latest

Its really hard to get an app on apple store. But we are lucky that you have Will power to do that πŸ₯πŸ˜…

i guess the "report" thing is also a requirement, right?

Yes

welp, figured. what does it do? same thing as iris? send a petition for deletion and hope for the best?

It just sends a report note, clients can use report notes to automatically put warnings on notes and accounts

I think this is a weird interpretation of apples requirement. The current β€œdelete” feature does not delete anything, quite contrary it stores your npub and bans it, nothing I would expect from the word β€œdelete”! I think we should put our heads together and find a better way to fulfill Apple’s requirement!

I suspect that the Apple requirement is targeted at central services and require that your account on the central server is deleted, which does not make sense in the context of Nostr.

Apple does not require that deleting an account in some email app deletes your hotmail/whatever account - nor that your account is banned.

Actually, Appleβ€˜a requirement is not actually met, it is just β€œsimulated to be met”.

It says: β€œPeople expect that all data associated with their account will be deleted when the account is deleted. This includes user-generated content that’s shared with others, such as photos, video, text posts, and reviews.”

Difficult if not impossible to solve in the context of Nostr. πŸ€”

Maybe it would help to add in the app description, that Damus is ONLY a frontend to the decentral Nostr network. Nostr is not even mentioned, the App description conveys that Damus is a network of its own. Maybe that’s the problem?

So there’s no undelete in Damus, but you could still login with another client, is that correct?

Seems to be the case
