I bought an Intellivision and an Atari 2600 VCS the same day in 1982. I suddenly had more "friends" than I'd ever had before.
I remember playing games on one of those with a friend as a kid, so long ago I remember the game but not the friends name. I think it was mostly games like chess and backgammon, etc. vs. space invaders like Atari was.
