just been testing it a few minutes but so far I'm more accurate and less stressed out using https://github.com/Helium314/HeliBoard over FUTO.
I'm sad to say that all the open source and privacy respecting keyboards are still worse than Gboard, but I don't want to use that damn thing. even with network permissions turned off I don't trust it.
I've been using FUTO for a month or so, but the typos are even worse than on the stock keyboard on my phone.

I prefer FUTO and is what I currently use.
I wasn't a fan of Heliboard. FUTO is better.
But you're right, none operate as well as gboard.
You don't realize how important a keyboard is until you use something else.
every one of these alt keyboards autocorrects to "IRS" instead of "it's".

Android keyboeards are one of those extremely important topics that seem to get forgotten. It doesn't matter what super secure privacy all you use, if your keyboard is made by google or has a keylogger
gboard with all permissions removed is probably okay. but I like to make it hard for myself
